Scrapbook protective sheets

by Colleen
(Boca Raton, FL)

I have just retired and am interested in making a scrapbook for my new granddaughter. Doesn't the protective scrap book cover sheet take away from the decorative scrapbook page? And, do all scrapbooks have this sheet?

ANSWER: Hi, Colleen! Thank you for your question.

All scrapbooks do not have page protectors. If you do not want to use them you can find what are called strap-hinge scrapbooks where the pages are directly bound into the spine. If you decide later you want to add the protective sheet you can buy sheets to go over the pages.

Read about different album types here.

You want your granddaughter and others to enjoy looking at the scrapbook, and many scrapbookers want to protect their works of heart from finger smudges and accidental spills, acid migration, etc. Scrapbook page protectors serve that purpose.

Read more about scrapbook page protectors here.

In the end it really comes down to a matter of personal choice.

Good luck with your album, and be sure to send us pictures of some of your pages along the way!

Rebecca
