Scrapbook Paper Piecing

You really should consider scrapbook paper piecing if you are searching for different and exciting ways to embellish and enhance your scrapbooking pages. Although it's been around many years in quiltmaking, paper piecing has evolved and is now widely used by many scrapbooking enthusiasts. So hold onto all those paper scraps after completing your pages, you just might find a use for them after all!

What is Paper Piecing?

Paper piecing is similar to putting the pieces of a puzzle together to achieve a complete picture, only the picture is used to embellish the pages of a scrapbook. It's the simple art of using pattern pieces that you cut or punch out from colorful paper and then assemble into the desired picture or design.

Ways to do Paper Piecing

You can purchase ready-made paper piecing kits and then put them together. On the other hand, if you are feeling crafty you can make your own unique designs with a little creativity. Using decoratie scissors, a die-cut machine, or decorative punches you can create one-of-a-kind scrapbook paper piecing works of art to embellish your scrapbooking pages.

Consider searching through various quilting or cross-stitching books, or even digging out coloring and other children's books to find interesting design ideas. Other good places to find ideas are clip art graphics and clip art books, woodworking patterns, tole painting books, and stationary designs.

Using your found picture as your inspiration, cut out the "parts" of the picture from various colored cardstock or patterned paper. Afterwards you can assemble them into your own creative design.
