Like many of you, it was a little scary at first because "technology" and I often are at odds. And I do enjoy the touch and feel of the paper and all the elements. But after that first purchase and discovering how quick and easy it is to use, I believe I will scrapbook more and so will end up with more heirloom pages for my son to enjoy later. The pages really are beautiful. And if I don't like the look of my layout I can just start over quickly. You can also do your photo editing right in their program. I will still do paper scrapbooking, but scrapbooking digitally is so fast and foolproof I'm just sorry I waited so long to start.
Of course, you don't have to go totally digital. You can do hybrid scrapbooking, say printing some of your journaling, or go 100%. You could do your picture layout digitally so that it's "just so," maybe your journaling, then print and add all the bling. Or you could do anywhere up and down the line. I'm sure I'll be mixing it up myself. There are many "add-ons" you can purchase to build your portfolio of digital papers and embellishments, and if they can support jpeg and png files you should be able to mix different programs. And you will never run out of beautiful artwork for your layouts!
I don't have a 12x12 printer, which is how I do most of my scrapbooking, but with digital scrapbooking I can either have my pages professionally bound into a book or individually printed, or I can export my pages to a print center and have them print for me. Of course, I could always switch the size of the layout or buy a larger printer! (Hmm... going on my wish list!)

from Stampin' Up! It uses their exclusive color palette and images, which coordinate with their stamps. You can use it for pages, digital card making like the one at left, calendars, DVDs, send via e-mail... it is very versatile! You can add text and video and music, making your projects truly unique. How cute would a page be when you can hear your little one's voice along with looking at the pictures?
